Love89 began in 1993 on Feb 14th as a small listener supported Christian music station in Knoxville that was a part of a network called Morning Star. Morning Star provided Adult Contemporary Christian music via their network to many areas of the United States.

After a few years of growing in listenership, building relationships with other area ministries, seeing the needs in this area, and responding to the comments from many of you who desired to get personally involved and more readily reach out into the community in a real and tangible way, we realized God was leading us a different direction with Love89.
After much prayer, and with financial support from our listening audience and donor family, the decision was made to break away from the network and become a local, and live radio station with an actual onsite staff.

In September of 1999 that dream came true and we launched the new Love89 with the Christian Hit Radio format that gave us the opportunity to reach out to a broader group of listeners with more variety of styles and tastes... finally, the whole family was listening together!

From that point Love89 has been in a constant state of tweaking, developing, learning, praying for God's guidance, and praying for Him to continue to bless this ministry that you helped build.
He has chosen to do that each and every year since, and we are so excited about how He will use us all together to impact our region and His Kingdom!
